Government responds to ALEP Letter

22 June 2009 The Government department in charge of leasehold matters has responded to ALEP's May letter suggesting improvements to the legislation.

ALEP was delighted to hear back from the Department of Communities and Local Government, although disappointed that few if any of the recommendations are likely to see the light of day.

Newly-installed minister with responsibility for residential leasehold issues Ian Austin MP acknowledged that the department were aware of the issues regarding signing Section 13 and 42 notices. And he admitted that it had not so far been brought to his department's attention. He assured ALEP that this would be incorporated into any future consideration of the 1993 Leasehold Reform and Urban Development Act.
