Where next for leasehold reform?
As we move towards our Conference on 15 October, Leasehold is balanced between two extremes. On one hand we have the undecided outcome of the Human Rights Act challenges to the legislation and the unimplemented effects of LAFRA, and on the other, the prospect of future legislation and the (eternal) question of which parts of this act will be switched on and when.
We have a consultation relating to service charges, and, by October, might we see the further (promised) consultations around the implementation of the leasehold reform aspects of LAFRA – or will our new Secretary of State for Housing have other ideas?
The question is, therefore, where next in terms of leasehold reform?
Therefore, what better time to turn our minds to what the future may hold and what the next phase of the reforming legislation might look like.
Join us at the ALEP Conference 2025, where we will be focusing on the current issues of the day in leasehold reform, including the BSA, updates to and practical tips for practitioners, as well as trying to imagine the future legal and valuation landscape of Commonhold.
There will of course also be the chance to network with like-minded professionals. We look forward to welcoming you.
