The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) has announced the schedule for its annual Autumn Conference. The event will be held online from Monday 4 – Thursday 7 October 2021.

The headline speakers include Fiona Haggett, Head of Valuations at Barclays, and human rights barrister, Zoe Leventhal of Matrix Chambers. Fiona and an expert panel will consider the question ’Ground Rents – are they common sense?’ while Zoe, along with ALEP stalwart Piers Harrison of Tanfield Chambers, will present a session focusing on ‘Leasehold and Human Rights’.

Daily morning sessions will provide junior practitioners with insights into the most pressing issues in the leasehold sector. By breaking topics such as enfranchisement and commonhold down to their basic principles, these interactive sessions will seek to inform and answer any questions that attendees may have on the subjects.

The afternoon sessions will be held for all practitioners each day from 4pm-5pm discussing different elements of leasehold practice. Alongside the headline presentations, there will be an update of recent legal cases in the sector and a discussion on the practicality of commonhold following the Association’s work supporting the Commonhold Council.

Mark Chick, Director of ALEP, said: “We are delighted once again to be able to present such high-quality speakers both from within the ALEP membership and from other organisations. We hope that the wide range of subjects will mean that there is something that appeals to everyone working within the leasehold sector.

“Although we are disappointed that we are not yet able to meet in person together, we are confident that following the success of our virtual conference and lecture in the past year, the online format will once again provide an engaging and informative experience for all who attend.”

Tickets for ALEP’s Autumn Conference Week are now available at https://www.alep.org.uk/events Tickets can be booked for all the sessions or for individual ones, with early bird prices available until 20 September.
