An enjoyable day was had by all at the 5th annual ALEP Golf Day, sponsored by Kerry London. Early rain gave way to sun and unseasonable temperatures, leaving our 16 strong team feeling every step of the undulating course.

Tom Merralls (TJM Law), who helped out with sourcing and booking the club, was convinced that 2013 might just be his year but ultimately it was that of early favourite Tim Sheridan of Sheridan’s Surveyors. Not content with winning the longest drive on the 13th, Tim was also named winner when Dean Calaz of sponsor Kerry London gallantly relinquished his joint first place after he and Tim both chalked up a Stableford score of 41. Laurence Weill was placed 2nd with 35.

Jane Pugh of Kerry London held her own in her four ball as our only lady golfer, and we promised not to mention the Croydon based golfer with the day’s lowest score of 11 or name check the golfer who lost his iphone somewhere between the 16th and 18th. All was not lost, however, and Tom didn’t go home empty handed, winning nearest the pin and joint 3rd place alongside Trevor Thompson (Kerry London) and David Sweeting (Sweeting Associates).

Other guests at the event included:

Anna Bailey, Alex Greenslade and Clare Grove of ALEP; Chris Macartney (Bishop and Sewell); David Robson and Ray Robson (Robsons); Tony Beaumont (William Pears Group); Sean Collins (News on the Block); Chris Alexander and Gary Dunger (SA Law); Mark Curtis (Leasehold Valuers) and Louie Burns (Leasehold Solutions).

Dean Calaz thanked the ALEP team for organising the event before handing prizes of wine, champagne and Kerry London golf balls to the worthy winners. A three-course meal with wine was enjoyed – and well deserved – by all.

The prize-winners were:

  • Tim Sheridan and Dean Calaz (joint 1st place with a score of 41)
  • Laurence Weill (35)
  • Trevor Thompson, David Sweeting, Tom Merralls (33)
  • Tony Beaumont and Gary Dunger (32)
  • Longest drive: Tim Sheridan
  • Nearest the pin: Tom Merralls

Thank you to all who took part and supported the event, to the sponsors, Kerry London, and to Liza and Clare for their assistance with organising the event.
